Termoland in the “RIO” Shopping Mall
The concept of a spa resort in the city dates back to Ancient Rome, where the thermae represented entire social institutions. In modern Moscow, bathing and water treatments are not at the center of public life, but the effect of a different climate zone — southern, humid, and maritime, which one can experience simply by stepping through the door — is highly valuable during the autumn-winter period.
The idea behind “Termoland” is that it brings together a collection of different types of baths. Following this, the interior design presents an eclectic collection of unrelated fragments. The mosaic is unified by a single lighting design concept: soft light, primarily built on directional sources, with the inclusion of colored lighting and accent lights in the intimate spaces.
Natural wood coverings are difficult to combine with water; however, in our tradition, the bath is naturally associated with a log cabin and wood. Therefore, the project’s authors did not reject the use of this material in the interiors of the complex.
