Concept. Soviet neoclassical architecture was characterized by a high level of understanding of form, which is well reflected in the proportions of this theater building’s façade. In the reconstruction concept, we preserved the historical façades unchanged, emphasizing the prominent crowning element. The extended section was interpreted as a developed attic floor, allowing it to integrate organically with the existing structure while simultaneously serving as a contrasting modern element—a cubic dome that seems to dissolve into the sky. Continuity is also evident in the decorative elements of the addition, which incorporate ornamental motifs inspired by national textiles.

The theater hall underwent a complete reconstruction, transforming into a versatile space suitable for realizing any ideas of contemporary theatrical practice. A complexly shaped golden wall crosses the foyer space, conceived as a representation of the theater curtain or backstage drapery. It marks the threshold beyond which everyday reality fades, making way for unexpected twists and limitless possibilities.
